Since TB! is new I decided we would talk about skins and get opinions not only on ours, but colours and schemes in general.

I notice some boards tend to have bright eye hurting skins, to skins so dark and gloomy it's hard to read. Skins are also a factor of a member joining or not, and lets not forget how it could make things overcrowded. So here are my questions.

These are just suggestive things to give you ideas on what to post, so feel free to give your own ideas as well.

What makes a skin hurt your eyes? What makes it impossible to see?
When skins have really bright colors. I've visited forums where they have a red background and bright yellow text. So, I opened the page and was greeted by an eye burning mess. Needless to say, I didn't join that site.

How do you feel about backgrounds? Fixed or no?
I don't have that much of a preference, not fixed I guess.

What would you require in a banner?
Hey, as long as the banner is nicely sized and eye catching, I'm fine.

How would you make a skin bright and exciting, but not eye burning?
I'd pick a certain color, let's say green. I wouldn't want to pick any bright red colors, because that would simply clash with the green and look bad. However, something like a light blue or or greenish yellow would look fine against it.

How do you build skins?
I've never built one myself.

Your opinion on our skin(s)?
I've only seen the default, but I like it. It looks good, and it isn't eye burning. But it isn't really boring either.

It takes a lot to blind me, dear. However, of the things that bug me if a pure white skin, it irritates me beyond belief. Not only is that sort of thing overused, one would think people could be creative, no? Another thing I've experienced on my sight with the skin, is bright colors. It gives me a headache, it's all fine and dandy for a few minutes, but for long moments in time... No.

Can't comment here, for I'm unaware what your meaning of 'fixed' is. I'm not exactly smart when it comes to these things. As for backgrounds in general, I adore to see what people can come up with. So long it's pretty, and not eyeblinding, I'm okay with it~

I'll tell you right now, I'm a sucker for banners. If it's gorgeous, and catches my eye, I'm bound to join whichever site it's on. I'm a sucker for graphics, and a banner can tell a lot about the site in first glance. If the banner was well made, and had a lot of work put into it, you know the site is bound to be the same way.

I can't say, really. It'd all depend on what everyone else would want, and what we'd come to an agreement on.

I know how to do it, don't get me wrong, but I don't make skins. I'm pathetic with such things. I'm more of the person who manages the site, and doesn't worry or fret about skins. Leave it to someone else, for they're bound to make the site prettier then I~

I've only seen one skin thus far, and bravo~ It looks pretty. However, at some point I'd like to request a darker color scheme, for those skins catch my eye. It also gives off a variety, instead of sticking to one thing. Darker is better in my opinion, at least it won't give off a headache as a lot of skins tend to do. However, bravo on your skin~

All neon colours have tended to turn me around. I hate it and don't know how the owner or members stand being there. As for impossible to see I know some places were the background(s) are dark green and the text is only slightly darker.

Cathora--Ugh can you still see after that? I wouldn't be able to! lol
Raven--Is this skin considered pure white to you? I hope not, but I guess the only real white is that of which is behind the boards. The colour of the actual boards themselves is really an off white *shrugs*

Depends on if it's solid like our, or if there is a pattern. If it's a pattern definitely fixed. I guess just because it looks better stationary. If the background was moving up and down with the boards I would get rather annoyed.
Cathora&Raven--Fixed mean if it stays in one place, or if it scrolls with the forum.
| What would you require in a banner?
Simplicity in Beauty type ideals there. I want something that isn't too exciting, but catches the eye at the same time. I tried that with my banner and failed half way to that point. Still I'm not bashing my work, I find no need to. It's not like it is a total mess, I hope.
Cathora--I guess I could have said that as well. It basically sums my point
Raven--Is ours well made and look like that? I hope so, I did put a hour or so into it. Still I guess that's not a long time.

Same way I did here. Not using neon colours and if I did have to use more I would go with soft blues, or maybe make a second skin that was soft purple.

I usually make a banner first, then extract my colours from there till I make something work. This is the first skin I've done completely backward by making the skin, then the banner. It was a lot harder though!

Raven--But surely if you've made a skin you have a process?

Since I made it I'm going with a biased it's amazing! No I think it's nice and could use work. Still thinking if some things should be changed *shrugs*

Raven--Yes I've thought of a darker skin, and we can set up something sometime soon so you and members can start giving in put on skins, colours, etc. But yes a dark skin would be nice. Still it might mean I'd have to redo some table images. No wait I don't, I have a code for that xP
