It's 2009. Voldemort is long defeated, and the infamous Harry Potter is now a top auror. It's been quiet at Hogwarts for a long few years. Peace has been restored to the school, and the whole wizarding world even. Many pure blood families still seemed to show hate towards muggleborns, but most of their ignorance seemed to die down to tolerance instead. That didn't stop the troubles. There were some rare cases of riots or attacks from time to time, and some children brought up by these snobby pure blood families bullied muggleborns, but it was nothing compared to the way it was before.
Face it, the discrimination started will never end. It was just something people had to cope with, the four Hogwarts houses would never be united. Hey- don't be such a racist towards the Slytherins. They weren't all bad, and the more mean kind decreased in numbers over the years, a lot of Slytherins are very nice now in fact. I wouldn't trust them all, though. A lot has changed at Hogwarts from the Hogwarts you may know. For one, all those teachers you've known, they're all either dead, retired or just gone. There's an entire new staff team there now.
Everything was back to normal and so hunky dory. Right? Wrong. Up until recently, things have been great at Hogwarts. There was a massive improvement in everything, including results in academics. Some believed the pressure of the dark days lead to poor results at times. But we all know nothing is ever what it seems at Hogwarts, something had to go wrong. It came up to late May, the very last week of term for 2008-2009 when the Charms professor, a very friendly and kind woman was mysteriously killed on a staff visit to Hogsmeade.
Her body was found, but it was unknown how she died, but clear it wasn't self afflicted. Never had a teacher been murdered in Hogwarts since the famous trio were at Hogwarts. This left a scared impact on the students and staff of Hogwarts. The summer was chilling, and in early June the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor was murdered in Diagon Alley. This caused fear within many students, even the new first years. Then, when they thought it wouldn't happen again a fourth year of Hufflepuff house was murdered. Everybody thought this seemingly serial killer was only after staff members, but this made some students not want to return to Hogwarts.
